Beyond the Spectrum is a three-year UK-wide creative writing programme for Autistic people, led by professional Autistic writers.
Beyond The Spectrum is an national creative writing project by and for Autistic people. Most of our groups are online and open to anyone in the coutry, but we occasionally run in-person groups with local partners.
We have groups for adults, groups for young people, and a small number of more specific groups. Whilst our groups are primarily aimed at Autistic people, no diagnosis is required, and if you are neurodivergent in any other way or exploring if you might be, you’re welcome to join Beyond The Spectrum if it feels like the right group for you.
You don’t need any creative writing experience to get involved. We have people in our groups who have never written before, all the way to published writers. As well as our main groups, we run online masterclasses, a yearly digital festival and publish our magazine twice a year.

A writing project for Autistic people, by Autistic people
Autistic people have led BTS from its beginning. It was conceived by Trevor Wright of Insight Autism, an Autistic person who credits creative writing with changing his life. He wanted to share this experience with others.
