At the heart of our programme for Autistic writers

Beyond the spectrum

Principles and Values

We are a vibrant community of Autistic writers of all ages. We want to create a world where every Autistic person feels confident to be themselves without masking and is able to find the right words to express how they feel.

We want all Autistic people to have agency and confidence to explore their creativity, and to meet like-minded people. By sharing and amplifying Autistic voices, we want to help society become more equitable and compassionate for all Autistic people.

In line with the National Autistic Society,

we believe our programme should:

Always be person-centred and promote Autistic people’s dignity.

Keep people safe, healthy and happy.

Enable Autistic people to do the things they love.

Never try and make someone ‘less Autistic’, which is impossible anyway.

PRINCIPLES AND VALUES

This should always be based on the best available evidence, including NICE guidelines, and delivered by someone who understands Autism.

We will not use, condone, or promote anything that goes against these principles.
